No. 1 A Seismic Shift Away From Granite.Despite its reign over the past decade, quartz is quickly replacing granite as the more popular countertop. Younger homeowners in particular feel granite has become commonplace and quartz gives a more contemporary look, plus it never requires sealing and is eco-friendly. The good news is you don't have to want a modern look to take advantage of quartz because it is also offered with more traditional edges and can work in any kitchen. No. 2 We Watch TV and We're Proud!Homeowners are no longer striving to cover up their TVs, mostly because they are bigger than they used to be and therefore harder to hide. Younger generations (and many men!) see a larger TV as an asset so the trend is to set it on top of or hang it above a well-proportioned cabinet that isn't, or at least doesn't look like, a traditional A/V cabinet. J. Tribble can make cabinets in any of our sink base styles (or any style you want) which will help the TV blend naturally into your room. No. 3 Wallpaper is Back.Faux finishes have finally seen a decline, although they are not gone for good, and wallpapers are making a comeback! However, these new papers are clean and sophisticated or patterns with a large scale - these are not the flowered vines you grew up with. Traditional grass cloths are also being used because they offer solid colors with a silk-like texture and provide a cosmopolitan look. No. 4 Pretty in Pink. For the second time this decade, pink is back. The universal color formula guide Pantone cites their "Honeysuckle" as the color to go to. Unlike the last pink trend, this color is a bold pink that's a few shades shy of red. Those of you who redo your interiors often can have a lot of fun with this! If your interiors tend to stay the same for years, try punching up the pink accents with paint, pillows, curtains or accessories that can be easily changed. No. 5 A "New" Antique.Reproductions with a patina give the look of an older piece but provide the functionality and reliability of something new. J. Tribble is the leader in this area by offering new cabinets that have the patina of antiques. The hand planing and hand carving on our Country French and Tuscan sink base styles are great examples of this. And, the best part is they can be made to order with any specifications you need (Grandma's antiques can't do that!). |
